Valentine’s DIY :: Happy Hearts

written by Natalie Ho 2016.02.06

I partnered with Joe Fresh to show you how to add a touch of true love to your favourite Joe Fresh designs with this easy DIY project.  This post originally appeared on Joe Fresh Post.

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and I think it’s a great time to channel the spirit of love into something fun and stylish. I love Valentine’s Day. It’s a great time to celebrate the simple acts of love with the special people in your life. If you’re looking for ways to spread some Valentine’s Day appreciation, try your hand at this effortless heart-print paint technique to embellish those Joe Fresh basics!

These are 100% washable and loveable!

  • Assorted Basics from Joe Fresh such as a denim skirt, chambray shirt, or oversized t-shirt
  • Washable Fabric Paint
  • Paint brush
  • Card stock or cardboard

Step 1: Create your paint stencil by tracing around the edges of a heart shaped stamp and applying onto a piece of card stock. I measured about 1 ½ inches apart.

Step 2: Cut out each heart shape using a crafting knife

Step 2

Step 3: Apply a light coat of fabric paint over stencil onto surface.

Step 3

Step 4:  Repeat pattern by going across in rows.

Step 4

Step 5: Touch up and apply a second coat of paint using a thin paint brush.

Step 5

Step 6: Let dry according to instructions on paint label.
