Style Tip :: How to Defeat the Snow

written by Natalie Ho 2013.11.13

There’s no denying that we’ll soon get our first snow fall (I’m sure some fellow neighbors further north have already been hit with their first). Brace yourself for the worsening weather but you can definitely continue stay dry and stylish with these simple tips for getting through those wet and wild days.

Jolly brolly

The humble umbrella is known for saving fashionistas everywhere from light snow to those giant snow balls flying down. Choose a colourful number to stand out in a storm and always keep a miniature one in your handbag for those sudden wet snow showers. Gadget-lovers will also appreciate the latest invention from Japan, which can keep you safe as well as dry. The Rain Rescuer is an umbrella with a built in torch so you can see and stay seen in the dark.

Jacket up

When the heavens decide to open, opt for classic chic with trench coats. Practical and sleek, these styles are wardrobe staples that will keep you looking classy and on trend. Flatter your figure and show off your waist with a belt to cinch it in (remember to layer up!). If you need a hood, go for a parka with a fur trimming for extra warmth. For the full range of options, check out this season’s women’s jackets from Littlewoods.

Plug In

If you’re no longer liking the pitter patter of the slushy snow, add in a new harmony. Keep your smart phone under wraps by using a waterproof case or consider even purchasing a cheap waterproof MP3 player for those nasty days. Switch on a few of your favourite tunes and fast forward your mind to next summer.

Keep on your toes

There’s nothing worse than arriving at work with soggy feet, meaning that pretty pumps with delicate soles are definitely a wash out – insert sad face. Go for rubber or leather shoes which have been treated with a protective spray. Believe it or not, there are waterproof and style boots out there. Long boots (why not try a OTK version?) or sturdy ankle styles can look super chic with skinny jeans or a flowing dress. Experiment with bright colours and use it as an excuse to ditch the stilettos for the day – your feet will be grateful in the long run. I’d love to be sporting the red bottoms just like the photo above, but let’s face it, that ain’t going to happen.

Hope you’ll stay cute and stylish even during the wet winter days!

Aw, this was an extremely nice post. Spending some time and actual effort to make a great article… but what can I say… I put things off a whole lot and don’t manage to get anything done.
