Home Décor: Tips on Staying Cozy and Warm during the Winter Season

written by Natalie Ho 2016.12.22

This is a sponsored post in partnership with Jarden Consumer Solutions (JCS). All thoughts and ideas remain my own.

If you ask any of my colleagues, family or friends, I’m always the one that’s cold at the office or at home. Regardless of time of year, I’m convinced that I’ve physically been wired to be a few degrees cooler than everyone else! At the office, you will often find a huge scarf draped over my shoulders, and at home, I’m always the one snuggled up with a giant faux fur throw.

The winter weather has really made its way to us, and I’m pretty sure that we won’t be experiencing a mild one in comparison to last year. Staying warm and toasty doesn’t mean you’ve got to crank up the heat (my husband will thank me for that!) or put your long johns on for bedtime stories!

I’ve partnered with Sunbeam to share a few tips on staying cozy at home this winter and a chance for one of you to win a heated throw valued at $100!

Even when the heat is on at home, I still find myself bundled up with a throw while watching TV. Our living room seems to be a bit chillier than the rest of the house because it backs into a large set of walk out doors to the patio where much of the heat escapes and in addition, the garage is right below which often means that the insulation is a bit poor in that area. Since Kyle prefers it cooler and me, toasty, the Sunbeam Faux Fur Reverse to Sherpa Heated Throw is the perfect couch companion for me as I can plug it in to warm me up (it features three heat settings) without having to change the temperature for the rest of the house!

I particularly love this reversible heated throw for Friday nights or in the bedroom because with the three hour auto-off function, I don’t have to worry about falling asleep without turning off the heat settings!

Aside from snuggling up with this heated throw, a cup of hot coffee topped with whipped cream and cinnamon is also a fabulous way to cozy up over the weekend while catching up on the latest reads.

If you have a fireplace, that would be the ultimate cozy zone. However, in lieu of one, I love clustering my collection of scented candles during the winter season to create the most inviting and cozy atmosphere. Some nights, we love to shut our lights off and leave these candles flaming while we enjoy movie night. I would say my recent favourite is “Crackling Firewood”.

This throw is ultra-soft, luxurious, and super stylish which make it a great addition to my home décor. I love that the plug can also be unplugged from the blanket which make it incredibly hassle-free to clean by popping it into the washer and dryer. Sunbeam also carries a variety of other heated throw options ranging from plush faux fur, to microplush with a collection of modern or festive designs.

Whether you’re snuggling up on the couch, catching up on your weekend reading, or like me, frantically finishing up some last minute Christmas errands in bed, consider Sunbeam heated throws this winter season. I’m first to confess that it’s been a bit life changing for me!

To celebrate those of you who like to stay cozy and warm, I’m giving away a Sunbeam Faux Fur Reverse to Sherpa Heated Throw valued at $99.99. Enter using the contest widget below.

I am usually always cold during the winter months and love to bundle up in cozy socks, have our electric fireplace going, and always a pot of tea brewing. This blanket would be perfect to snuggle under!

I love the idea of doing a fall soup exchange where a group of neighbours or friends each make a huge batch of soup and then gives some to each member of the group. It’s a great way to get a variety of recipes while only doing the work of one cook.
