Food & Drink :: Coffee Iced Pops

written by Natalie Ho 2018.06.26

What’s more refreshing than an iced coffee to kick off a hot summer day you ask? A Coffee Iced Pop of course!

Since the launch of Nespresso On-Ice capsules, I’ve been conjuring interesting ways to enjoy them. I recently acquired a set of vintage style ice pop molds and figured out that while iced coffee is already awesome as is, freezing it then dunking them into a glass of milk, is ever so yummy! Plus, they just look so darn cute and perfect for parties!

The Nespresso On-Ice limited edition capsules include two variations, Ispirazione Shakerato and Ispirazione Salentina,  both available for the Vertuo and Original machines. And guys, I won’t even attempt to pronounce these beautiful names because I’d be totally embarrassing myself!

If you prefer an intense roasted blend, Ispirazione Shakerato is made just for you with spicy aromas and all you need is to shake it up with a few cubes of ice. If you prefer a woodier and creamier option, Ispirazione Salentina is a great option with a splash of your favourite dairy or non dairy creamer.

As for me, I brewed both variations and froze them in vessels and enjoyed them as ice pops submerged in milk. Delicious!

Serves: 6 Prep Time: 5 mins Cooking Time: 3 hours freezing time

Ingredients

  • Nespresso On Ice Capsules (2x Vertuo or 4x Original)
  • Sweetener
  • Diary (or your preferred non-dairy option)
  • Ice pop molds (I used this one)

Instructions

  • Brew Nespresso On Ice in a container with a pour spout
  • Mix in sweetener of your choice, I used agave
  • Pour into ice pop molds
  • Freeze for minimum of 3 hours
  • When ready to enjoy, pour milk into glass
  • Remove the ice pop from the mold by running the mold under warm water for 10-15 seconds
  • They should easily pop out
  • Place into glass and serve!

In addition to the launch of Nespresso On-Ice, I’m also extremely thrilled that The Red Bag Recycling Program has officially launched! Many of you may not know this, but Nespresso capsules are made of aluminum and every capsule is recyclable. With the Red Bag program, which launched on June 11, 2018, you can now put your used capsules in a red recyclable plastic bag and place this bag in a Canada Post postal bin or postal counter and they will go through a proper triage and returned to Nespresso for processing! How super simple is that?!

The Red Bags are available free of charge and sent to you with your online purchase or Nespresso Club capsule order or can be requested at Nespresso boutiques. This program is offered to residents of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, the territories and Atlantic Canada. Visit https://www.nespresso.com/ca/en/services-recycling to find the best recycling solution in your area!

You now have no excuse because recycling is made so easy thanks to our friends at Nespresso, so save those used capsules, pop them in a Red Bag and drop them off at your closest Canada Post bin!

I hope you all enjoy this super simple yet fun and delicious Coffee Iced Pop recipe!
