Home Decor :: Holiday Living Room Refresh with Urban Barn

written by Natalie Ho 2019.12.19

I love the holiday season, especially because I can decorate the house with all things festive! I have to admit though, with a little baby at home this year, I was struggling with finding the time to plan and shop for decorations but luckily Urban Barn came to the rescue and helped me with getting our place in tip top shape for Everett’s first Christmas! We also took the opportunity to upgrade our couch to a sectional and absolutely love how everything turned out!

BEFORE

Here is a glimpse of our living area before the refresh. We had this cream sofa for over six years and it was definitely time to upgrade to an option that was more suitable for our current lifestyle. With a baby in the house, I needed to get rid of that extra chair for more floor space but not compromise the extra seating. In addition, a darker fabric would also be preferred with all the spit up happening in the Higgins household lately!

AFTER

This Ryerson Sofa Chaise (in Rogen Pacific) was the perfect choice as it fit our small space effortlessly without giving up any seating, in fact, gave us even more! I also love that the chaise can be configured on either the right or left side, which offers us a lot of flexibility. The darker choice fabric is a mix between a grey and blue and it instantly gives the living area and dramatic and cozy feel.

Now, let’s talk about the holiday decorations! Since our townhouse is narrow, we could only afford to bring in a slim Christmas Tree. I was so pleased that Urban Barn carried a variety Christmas Trees in different sizes including this Claus 7.5ft Pre-Lit Slim Tree that was exactly what we were looking for. In terms of this year’s tree theme, I selected a bunch of fun and playful ornaments, all from Urban Barn as I know that my little E would appreciate it! They have such a great selection of ornaments and tree decorations, most of which are now on sale and can be purchased in store for all your last minute ornament needs!

I was also really impressed with the selection of faux wreaths and garlands that Urban Barn had in store. One year, I attempted to create my own stairway and doorway garlands using real greens and boy was that a mistake! It took me hours and it was also a total mess. The Oakley Wreath Natural and Merida Garland resembled so close to real greens but without the mess, I’ll definitely have guests fooled this year!

If you’re still in search for some last minute holiday decorations, Urban Barn is a great destination. And if you’re all set this year, a pro tip from me, pick up your items for next holiday season while most of it is discounted in stores already! You will thank me!

Shown above c/o Urban Barn: Sectional Couch / Plaid Cushion / Plaid Cushion (Square) / Caramel Cushion / Grey Knit Throw / 7.5 ft Slim Christmas Tree / Wreath / Garland / Ebenezer Truck / Yukon Tree Decoration / Flying Pig Ornament / Sparky Dog Ornament / Racer Tree Ornament  / Camper Ornament / Santa’s Ball Ornament / Diesel Dog Ornament

I hope you like what I’ve done to this space this holiday season with Urban Barn, I’ve linked all the items above! I wish you all a happy and cozy holidays!
