Beauty :: Springtime Glitter Eye Makeup Looks with Quo Cosmetics

written by Natalie Ho 2019.02.28

Admittedly, I’m not the most adventurous when it comes to eye makeup looks. I’ve always found it difficult to work with my monolids and to be frank, my lids (just like the rest of my T-zone) which are also on the oilier side causing eye shadows to slip and rub off. But I must say, over the last several years, I’ve had the opportunity to sample so many great makeup products and this has certainly encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone (one baby step at a time with neutral and matte tones for the eyes).

With spring just around the corner, the pops of pastels and bright colours appearing in store have really inspired me to go one more step further, venturing into the world of shimmery beauty looks with the newest array of Glitter Effects Eye Shadows from Quo Cosmetics.

This mini collection of shadows comes in three different colour variations – Vega, Impulse and Renegade ($10). They are in the form of super lightweight, loose glitter particles that can easily add a gentle touch of glam to an existing daytime look or intensify an already dramatic nighttime style.

For a more natural finish, I use my fingertips to dab a small amount over my lids as well as under my brow arches just for that subtle hint of shimmer. When feeling a bit more glamorous, I wet a small shadow brush to continuously blend and build over top of an existing shadow look. Pro tip: the wet brush will provide a long-lasting effect.

Brushes used: Quo Shadow Smudge Brush and Quo All Over Shadow Brush

And to help combat my-so-called eye makeup problems mentioned earlier, the Quo Eye Primer ($14), which has a great lightweight texture, is my recommended prep step for the lids before eye shadow application to ensure a crease free look and extra staying power. While the creamy, easy to glide on Quo Waterproof Eyeliner in black ($12) is just the ideal product to create the illusion of extra depth and a wide-eyed look.

I just love the versatility of these little glitter gems. They can also be applied over the apples of your cheeks for that envious natural looking glow or a dab across the collarbone for a playful yet sexy shimmering detail during the warmer summer nights. Trust me, a little goes a long way!

How do you like my spring-ready makeup style?

All products showcased in this post are now available in-stores for a limited-time as part of a seasonal launch. I urge you to swing by your nearest Shoppers Drug Mart to snatch up a few Glitter Effects Shadows and add prep and finishing touches with the primer and liner too!
