Oh it’s that wonderful time of the year again, Christmas! We’re just under a month away and I’m starting to feel the holiday crunch already! Aside from picking up a fresh wreath and pine for our stairwell garland over the weekend, I have not yet started any Christmas shopping or decorations! I have though started to stock the kitchen with all sorts of holiday treats and couldn’t be happier!
One of my favourite winter beverages is hot chocolate. But, I’m often desperately craving coffee too. What’s a girl to do? Combine both of course!

I find making mocha at home much more enjoyable then ordering from the cafe because I get to experiment with different chocolates and coffee flavours I have at home. There are many different ways you can add chocolate flavour to your coffee. Some people add hot chocolate mix and others use chocolate syrup. As for me, I like to melt a few pieces of organic chocolate in milk over the stove top then pour into freshly brewed coffee.
Here is what I used for my festive version:
- NESPRESSO Sachertorte flavoured Espresso (limited edition for the holidays)
- Organic dark chocolate
- Whipped Cream
- Gingerbread men cookies (optional)
To make life extra sweet, I topped each cup of mocha with whipped cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon and mini gingerbread men cookies (I even decorated them too)! The beautiful combination of spices, chocolate, and coffee was like a mini flavour explosion in my mouth and it was truly indulgent!
NESPRESSO released a limited edition of Festive Variations for both the Original and Vertuo Line as well as a variety of gifts that are perfect as holiday gifts. Be sure to check them out!
