I can eat soup just about everyday. Whether it’s hot and sticky out or it’s super windy and chilly, soups are my go-to comfort food. I love them because they are extremely versatile and can be prepared in so many different ways. In addition, they are typically packed with vegetables, offering many healthy options to help you reach your daily veggie intake.
During the weekend, when I’ve got a bit of extra time, I really enjoy slow cooking homemade soups. When it comes to Monday through Fridays, we’re extremely tight on time and for the most part rely on quick and easy meals. Without compromising taste and nutrition, we will stop by our local Loblaws on the way home to pick up our favourite From Our Chefs™ soups (the Tomato and Cheddar is tasty!) and a few other freshly prepared sides.
I am absolutely obsessed with the soups. They are hearty, delicious, and tastes like they came right from my crock pot!
I learned during my 1:1 private shopping experience with Loblaw Executive Chef Mark Russell that the From Our Chefs™ product line were inspired by family recipes and paired with fresh, local ingredients. They are first tried and tested at the flagship Maple Leaf Gardens store than rolled out nationwide. There are currently 30+ products available in this collection from ready to take home soups, variety of mixed salads and sides, to meat products that are ready to be popped into the oven.
I love adding my personal touches to these ready made dishes. To elevate this Roasted Red Pepper soup, I drizzled a few drops of truffle oil and sprinkled a handful of green onions. Paired with a side of kale and quinoa salad and fresh baked bread, this not only makes a quick easy meal, but an impressive one too!
The quality of the From Our Chefs™ collection is extremely high which means you can also integrate them as part of or for your entire lunch or dinner parties! Aside from the soups, I also really enjoy the Turkey Medallions ($10 for two, found in the meat section, also comes in beef), Pre-cooked Homestyle Turkey Meatloaf (found by the Rotisserie Chickens), cauliflower rice (found in the ready made section), and last but not least the scotch eggs (also found in the ready made section)!
If you haven’t already tried the From Our Chefs™ collection, I highly recommend it and you’re going to thank me because it provides a better option then going out to an expensive restaurant during the week or settling for an unhealthy fast food drive thru.
