DIY Summer Beach Hat Joe Fresh

DIY :: Sequins Beach Hat with Joe Fresh

by Natalie Ho 2015.06.22

Happy Monday! Thrilled to share with you my latest DIY contribution for my friends at Joe Fresh (psst, they’ve also got a face lift on their blog!).

A giant floppy sun hat is a must during the summer season. I’ve managed to collect a wide variety of sun hats over the years and they are all fairly similar to one another. Gearing up for this summer, I decided to make my newly acquired Joe Fresh hat ($12-16) stand out by embellishing it with a sequins trim and a nifty phrase. Nothing speaks vacation mode like a “See u later,” right?

DIY :: Gold Leaf Sandals {Birkenstock}

by Natalie Ho 2015.05.28

I’ve been totally dying to add a new pair of Birkenstock’s to my collection of Summer sandals, and was uber excited when SoftMoc approached me on a DIY and style challenge. You often relate a pair of Birkenstock’s to camping, cottaging, or an outdoor activity. But honestly… have you seen the metallic Birkenstock sandals on the market?! They’re super fashionable and for those of you who own a pair (I know many of you do!) they are incredibly comfortable and long lasting.

Inspired by the metallic versions and a recent gold leaf starter kit I purchased for a home DIY project, I decided test out this gold leaf kit on my newly acquired Birkenstock sandals. I am so happy with the end result and can’t WAIT to show you how I style them. For those who have been curious about gold leafing … yes, you can and should gold leaf your footwear!

DIY :: Painted Love Nail Art

by Natalie Ho 2015.05.23

I am a huge fan of getting pampered at the nail salon. An occasional manicure and pedicure is such a nice treat, especially near the start of the warm season. At the salon, I generally opt for a classic French manicure or something that is subtle and timeless. However, when I opt to do my nails in the privacy of my own home, I let the creative cat take over and love to experiment with fun nail art designs.

My inner artist had me inspired to create a nail look resembling an abstract painting. This nail look is extremely easy to re-create and trust me, you can’t make a mistake!

Read further to see how to DIY this “Painted Love” nail look suggested by my friends at Shopper’s Drug Mart (psst, special promotions included!).

DIY :: Joe Fresh Jeweled Sweater

by Natalie Ho 2014.11.03

I have a thing for embellished clothing. In my opinion, a jeweled sweater adds instant glam to any outfit and there’s also no need for added accessories. I’ve been meaning to jazz up a simple crew neck sweater and so glad to finally share this simple yet stunning DIY jeweled sweater with you. I picked up a super basic yet necessary Joe Fresh merino crew neck sweater ($49) and went to town on it by adding an assortment of sparkly blue crystals to the collar and arrow strips down the sleeves.

I am incredibly happy with this DIY Joe Fresh embellished jeweled sweater and can not wait to work on a few more variations!

I hope you’ll give it a try and just have fun and go crazy with it!
